Kristen Stewart cleans up nicely for Harper's Bazaar, talks Twilight sex

04.30.2015by: Cherry Liquor

I actually really like Kristen Stewart, even if it's inexplicably unpopular to do so. The only thing I find myself wishing is that she was a bit more educated. Hollywood needs more young women like her, ones who aren't scared of saying what they're thinking or feeling... but perhaps with some smart polish around the edges to ward off those who twist their words.

For the recent issue of Harper's Bazaar UK, Stewart tackles discussing sexism in Hollywood ("Hollywood is disgustingly sexist. It's crazy. It's so offensive it's crazy.") and points out that actresses "inevitably have to work a little bit harder to be heard.". Which I agree with. Her ramblings about why other actresses choose certain roles to get nude for is more muddled.

As for the TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN moment when her character Bella finally seals the deal with vampire husband Edward, Stewart first points out that simulated sex scenes are "grotesquely uncomfortable," then explains "I only hate them when they're contrived." But her description of Bella & Edward's consummation seems to once again say different. "On TWILIGHT we had to do the most epic sex scene of all time. It had to be transcendent and otherworldly, inhuman, better sex than you can possibly ever imagine, and we were like, 'How do we live up to that?' It was agony. Which sucks, because I wanted it to be so good."

Like I said, I wish she was a little more polished because what she's saying, that she both loves and hates aspects of her work, is rarely touched upon by her contemporaries, who never utter a negative (and I fear, true) word regarding their chosen occupation. I appreciate her fearlessness and honestly, I think she's a pretty gal with dependable acting skill. Make of that part what you will.
