Daisy Ridley & John Boyega are shiny in ASOS for more Star Wars saturation

11.13.2015by: Cherry Liquor

I must have just missed out on the STAR WARS gene. I'm not old enough to have been deeply invested in the original series (when I was really little I remember watching EMPIRE and crying when Han was put in the carbonite and my cousin telling me to shut up, none of it was real). I was a bit too old to be a child of the prequels, although I do recall going to see them in theaters and being, well, underwhelmed by the whole thing. And as people are going completely berzerk for these new movies, to the extent of crashing the pre-sale websites such as Fandango, in order to secure their seats, I'm dog-head-tilt confused as to why it's THAT big of a deal.

I'm not anti-STAR WARS by any means. I actually really love John Boyega, who I had watched "Becoming Human" after loving its predecessor, the original British version of "Being Human" and his turn as Moses in ATTACK THE BLOCK. I also think Daisy Ridley is an absolute doll, refreshing in her casual, nature beauty in that way that Carrie Fisher possessed back in the '70's (pre-coke habit, of course). I'm disturbed that people have already begun seeking out more skeevy stuff about her (her topless shots from the British show "Silent Witness" are already making quick rounds) and can't be satisfied with the wonderful photoshoots that have surfaced as a part of the mega-promotion for the film. Daisy looks like a cross between Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman, a great thing. The movie looks like a big budget capitalizing move on Generation X's nostalgia, now that they have a surplus of disposable income to blow on all this merch. But like I said... I don't get the fandemonium. That's just me.
