Amy Schumer drops the hottie bomb in Vanity Fair

I get it. A lot of people didn't think that TRAINWRECK was funny (on the whole, it wasn't, but I'd watch that movie over and over again just to see John Cena kill it) and even more think that Amy Schumer is unfunny, overweight, obnoxious, etc, etc, etc, ad naseum. This is what happens when someone breaks out and suddenly is thrust into the world's collective face as a new representative for female power in Hollywood. Prior to all the hubbub, I was touched by reading to Schumer's speech about confidence that she gave back in 2014, before everything went down. It was personal, it was funny in that painful, "I can relate" sorta way. That speech endeared me to Amy. Which makes me feel protective when the slings and arrows about her appearance are louder than the criticism about her talent or hard work. The fact that Amy discusses receiving death threats from "Jackass" fans after she told a joke at the roast of Steve-O is appalling.

Still, Schumer is exactly that badass chick that every guy says he wants... but not really. In the interview with Vanity Fair, she talked about playing volleyball in high school and later taking on surfing pretty seriously. "I have a pretty bad scar on my leg from surfing. Forty-one stitches, three layers. I skegged myself. My whole fin went into my leg, and I had to yank it out. I was by myself." Because of the experience, where she feared she might have bled out if another random surfer helped hold the leg wound closed, Amy went on to safer habits in college, including performing in plays, which lead to her comedy routines. She admits that her comedy is in character, much like a standard written performance. For the most part, I love that character, especially when she's at her viciously keen best on "Inside Amy Schumer."
